After being shocked by Tendulkar’s criticism by Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray, cricket fans all over the country were shocked by the candid admission of Shaili Raval, the 23-year-old cute gal whose pictures were flashed all across national televisions as cheering Dhoni for a century, that she was only interested in attracting television cameras and least bothered if Dhoni could have been bowled in the 90’s.
“I like Sach Ka Saamna and I like telling the truth. Yes, I’m not a cricket buff and went to the stadium just for a change. Many of my friends, who were watching the test match on television, kept SMSing me and asking why I was not being shown on the TV. So I started screaming and jumping to appear on television.” Shaili shocked the nation on the eve of the first day of the first Test Match between India and Sri Lanka played at Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera here.
The revelation came as a shock for millions of cricket fans, who were already irritated by Bal Thackeray’s comment. “Bal Thackeray is no fan of cricket, but it feels sad to see a cricket fan indulging in such cheap publicity stunts.” Rajiv Patel, a local cricket aficionado expressed his disappointment.

Shaili is a student of prestigious MICA (Mudra Institute of Communications Ahmedabad) and studying communications management. MICA officials have denied any knowledge of the issue but have ruled out the possibility of Shaili’s activities being a part of some marketing campaign of a leading soft-drinks brand, banner of which was being waved by her as she jumped and shouted Dhoni-Dhoni.
Nimbus Communications, the television marketing company broadcasting the match live on Neo Cricket, has also ruled out any corporate conspiracy behind the incident and has given clean chits to its cameraman and production crew.
“I don’t know what is this hoopla about. Our cameramen have been showing girls for long and there is nothing unusual about it. In fact cricket production has been dominated on-screen by women ever since Mandira Bedi made an appearance as a cricket expert. You guys never smelled any conspiracy then. I guess such stories are being planted by those who have lost the broadcasting rights to us.” Nimbus CEO Harish Thawani said.

I’m offended she wasn’t cheering for Sachin..Even if it was a cheap publicity stunt she should have done it for Tendulkar who has completed 20 glorious years playing international cricket. Dhoni has still a long way to go before he reaches the stature of Sachin who is god of cricket…Dumb girl!…oh wait..Sachin got out scoring just 4 runs..perhaps she would have cheered for Sachin as well had he stayed on the crease long enuff to score a century..maybe not so dumb after all!
