IIT JEE glitches expose frail disposition of Indian students

New Delhi. Barely five months after thousands of students failed to take CAT (Common Admission Test for IIMs) successfully, comes the shocking news of students failing yet again at another entrance test of international repute – IIT JEE (Joint Entrance Exam). Just a few alleged glitches in the objective response sheets were enough to send thousands of students in a tizzy, putting a question mark over the quality and mentality of Indian students being produced these days.

“This indeed is depressing. For how long we have to spoon feed them? Do they want everything neat and organized on a platter? Is that how they expect things to be when they grow up?” said Phunsukh Wangdu, a center invigilator, who was bugged by the students to explain why the number of questions and order of sections on the response sheet didn’t tally with those in the question paper.

Such response sheets proved to be a mystery to many students

“I don’t know why they were so surprised. Satyam Computer’s liabilities didn’t tally with their assets, Shoaib Malik’s father’s name on the divorce certificate didn’t tally with that on the marriage invitation card; we have to live with these harsh realities. And these kids were getting all worked up over such a small issue.” Mr. Wangdu rued.

This shocking incident comes at a time when the government was planning to allow foreign universities to set up campuses in India. Experts believe that the decision should be deferred in wake of the recent incidents as Indian students didn’t seem to be ready for the big leap.

“Students need better training and coaching for IITs and IIMs before anything else. We believe that the government is rushing in.” said Devesh of InstantGyan Coaching Institute, who claimed that students of his institute had no problems dealing with the glitches.

There are conflicting reports about the glitches; while some accept that was a printing error, others deny that there was any error at all. According to a report, the apparent glitches were actually a deliberate act carried out as a part of IIT’s ongoing research efforts into Chaos Theory.

“There was surely chaos all around. I don’t know why they put us through all this.” said Atul, a test taker, who had traveled all the way from Jamshedpur to take the test apart from visiting Qutub Minar. Atul is planning to visit Laal Quila too if JEE was canceled and rescheduled, a highly unlikely scenario.

It doesn’t matter as answer to all the question were option D.So whoever has answered correctly will mark answer D and those who marked answer other than D i.e A, B or C will be negatively marked.
