New Delhi. Sagarika Ghose, leading journalist from CNN-IBN news channel, has filed an application for securing copyright and trademark rights over the phrase “Internet Hindus”, which she claims to have invented a few weeks back. Sagarika strongly believes, among many other things, that the concerned phrase is being used rampantly in online conversations by every person with a keyboard, but she is not being credited for the same.
“Yes, I invented the phrase and I want people to know it. I don’t want to limit the use of the phrase but at least I should be acknowledged as the inventor.” Sagarika said, claiming that a study by a social media expert had shown that the term Internet Hindus was being used as frequently in online conversations as ROFLMAO, not necessarily together.

Sagarika Ghose is seen smiling here, allegedly after using the term “Internet Hindus” on-air
Office of the Registrar of Trade Marks has confirmed the receipt of the application by Ms. Ghose, though they refused to comment on its merits or origins.
“One can get a trademark over a phrase, but it has to be unique and distinctive. Under Section 9(1)(b) of the Trade Mark Act of 1958, shortening a longer descriptive phrase might not enable you for such rights. One can claim that Internet Hindus is a shortened form of Hindus who use Internet for propaganda, and Ms. Ghose could lose the rights.” said a leading trademark lawyer Ram Jhoothmalani.
But as always, Sagarika Ghose has rejected (such) criticisms and has claimed that her uniquely invented phrase can be used to denote all kinds of people who differ with (her) democratic views.
The issue has divided netizens, who feel that if Sagarika was awarded the trademark rights, they would be forced to add the ™ symbol each time they tweet something about Internet or Hindus together, which will spoil their online experience. But a few have supported Sagarika.
“A person must be credited for his or her writing skills. This will help India become superpower.” leading author Chetan Bhagat tweeted.

““A person must be credited for his or her writing skills. This will help India become superpower.” leading author Chetan Bhagat tweeted.” – great point !!!
“Internet Hindus” doesn’t even alliterate – Ms. Ghosh should have tried harder. Consider Nilanaja S Roy’s “http Hindus” to be a far more patentable phrase.

Ms. Sagarika Ghose DOES INDEED QUALIFY FOR A PATENT BEING AWARDED TO HER.
IT’S BRILLIANT AND ACCURATELY SLOTS THE INTENDED GROUP OF PEOPLE USING THE INTERNET !
Kudos !!!
and your action of using CAPS LOCK for commenting ACCURATELY SLOTS YOU AS AN ASSHOLE
I am curious to know as to whether Ms. Sagarika Ghose respects or hates Hindus who are the true followers of Hinduism, having Manu-Smriti as the basis, whose message is anti-Kshatriya (robot-like protectors of Brahmins and the cows), anti-Vaisya (the industrialists, traders and farmers), anti-masses (Sudras, who are to be kept deprived of all human rights),
anti-mlechhas (those not belonging to Hindu Dharma), anti-spirituality, and unehtical and aimed at keeping the society permanantly divided into thousands of startified divisions, with the sole purpose of retaining kaam-dhenu or all-giving device, in the form of monopoly rights to gifts and presents (dana), begging (alms from any body and to any extent, with the help of state sanction) and charging fees for verbal services (dakshinaa).
Sir,
Since you are Retd IAS officer, we respect your IAS qualification with cooked history. Please relearn the real history ( NO IAS this learning). PANCHATANTRA one of the best book to learn & follow with no inhibitions.
cooked history during british rule has brainwashed our so called british ill educated, mentaly blocked people. our 60 years of post independence education system has taught us only the cooked history.
Please relearn the real history not from school /college history books, but from real historians. We new generation Hindus are aware of what is our real history. whether it is INTERNET HINDU or UNIVERSAL HINDU or CLOUD HINDU . We are Hindus.
Better relearn real world history as well. We invented and taught the world how to count the numbers. Should we claim for HINDU Trade mark on the number system.
Mr. Sanjeev,
Thanks for the intervention. I happened to see it only today the 13 Aug. 2010.
In response I would like to say that IAS alone is no qualification for history. I am glad to note that you have respect if not for knowledge, at least for IAS.
But you seem to have greater regard for historians. I won’t claim to be historian in the sense that I have not taught history in a university. But my statements do not at all deserve to be brushed aside in the manner you have tried to do. In this connection, it would have been better, if you had disclosed your own status to consider yourself entitled to over-rule my statements.
I am sure if you had visited my website, your adverse comments could be avided provided you do not suffer from usual prejudice of upper caste.
Assuming that you haven’t visited my website, I would like to inform you that apart from having been an IAS officer, I possess fairly good number of higher educational qualifications. I am MA PhD LLB. I also hold Master’s Diploma in Public Administration from IIPA, New Delhi. Secured Degree of Bachelor of Arts and that of Bachelor of Laws from Panjab University.
I secured First Class Master’s Degree in Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology and Degree of Doctorate of Philosophy from Kurukshetra University.
I am a Sanskrit graduate and author of quite a few critical books on the basis of scientific analysis of Hindu religion and philosophy and questioned the propriety of the ancient historians to base the Ancient Indian historians on the self-contradictory Puranas, which were never written to be substitutes of history.
The details of my important books may be seen from my website. Here it should suffice it say that I have formally questioned the history of Indian freedom struggle which is being taught in the schools and colleges, through the following books:
1. Indian Freedom Struggle: New Insight, published in 2003; and
2. Dr. B R Ambedkar: Man of Millennium for Social Justice.
Many established scholars have been speaking highly of my endeavors. And none has come forward to question my findings since 1975, when I had challenged the world scientists and historians and scriptural pundits by propounding Manvantara Theory of Evaluation of Universe.
I had been invited in quite a few national and international science seminars between 1975 and 1983.
From the above disclosures, I would only request you to behave with some restraint expected of FB friends.

LOL! I saw this in ‘recent comments’ and out of curiousity I came to check this, and wow! Dude, you need to get a life

You have so much time to copy-paste your whole CV here!? LOL! You are not only retired, you are retard too
All the institutes and degrees that you have mentioned are all sub-standard and third-grade, and you are writing as if you are from IITs and Harvard. And dude, everyone knows that in India, corrupt people become IAS and losers become Historians. Now you should know how should people behave with you!
You are free to have any opinion about any one else.
Whether only corrupt people become IAS officers, you might be in possession of reliable statistics. I need not dispute them.
How I got into the IAS, is a matter of record which can be checked from my website. What you need to note that how I left the IAS is important for you to know.
I am the sole example in Indian administrative history, of one who has been exposing his superiors and political bosses including the chief ministers throughout, by opposing their illegal orders and leading sustained campaigns to eradicate corruption in every department held by me from time to time.
Finally, a stage had to come when I was to be told that enough is enough. That stage came in the regime of Ch. Devilal as chief Minister.
When I found that I would not be able to have my freedom to check corruption and that now my sense of self-respect was at stake, I served the government to take premature retirement. The news regarding my decision to quit had become a national news, I am the only officer who was being uniformly praised by media even through editorials.
You need not compare my qualifications with those of Harvard returned, which positions are reserved for the wards of those who have been corrupt for generations together. I was born in an untouchable family 15 years before independence and despite fierce opposition of Brahmana teachers I had become a Sanskrit student and a Sanskrit graduate. More important is to use the serious adversities as stepping stones.
This is by way of your fighting interventions.
May I know why you feel so much perturbed about my interventions? If you have any thing serious to rebut my observations, you can do some even without trying to hit me. My observations are meant for the consumption of scriptural pundits
