Indian state-owned telecommunications company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has ventured into the digital payments space by partnering Mobikwik to launch a new payment e-wallet to help ease payment processes for its 100 million customers. The launch was scheduled for today but now has been delayed due to the internet being down at the headquarters.

BSNL which was lagging behind a lot of private telecom companies in providing innovative payment solutions has finally gathered pace and will launch more innovative products and service in the coming days. But one problem with which the BSNL customers as well as BSNL employees are dealing with is the non trustworthy network. Most of the times the network is too slow to even surf, forget about processing the payments. Manoj Sinha, the minister for telecommunications experienced the problems himself today.

Sinha was to launch  the application on Google Play store, but right at the moment of launch, the internet service at the headquarter gave up and even after 3 hours of trouble shooting by engineers, is yet to work properly. BSNL chairman has registered a complaint with the customer service of BSNL are awaiting any solution. The customer service executive has to be credited for giving an unbiased service as he gave the same lethargic service to customers as well as BSNL senior management.

Government officials have planned strict action against BSNL and have made sure that the next launch would be successful. It has directed BSNL management to arrange for internet from private players at any rates demanded by them. The payment e-wallet is a big step towards innovation by BSNL and it has promised that in the near future it will also try to launch 3G services across the nation.
