Panic spread among moviegoers in Mumbai’s Regal theatre in Colaba on Friday evening when around 30 die-hard Sachin fans beat up a boy for not getting goose bumps while the Sachin Sachin! anthem was being played during the movie ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’. sachin-a-billion-dreams-review-1-1

One of the most awaited documentaries, based on the life of, arguably, the most iconic cricketer in history – SACHIN RAMESH TENDULKAR – released on Friday, 26th May. The movie shows the 24 years of Sachin’s cricketing career in just 137 minutes, except for the commercials. Or may be that too during the interval. The sound “Sachiiiin Sachinnnn” still gives goose bumps to 120 billion people. Sachin’s shots with A R Rahman’s music have turned out to be one of the best combinations after chai-sutta. While the movie performed well in most theatres, a strange incident happened in Regal theatre, Mumbai. A boy, Ishant (name changed for safety) didn’t get goose bumps when the “Sachiiiin Sachinnnn” sound came from Dolby digital system of the theatre. This was unimaginable for many. A group of around 30 people noticed Ishant and started harassing and beating him. They even called him anti-national and asked him to show his Aadhaar card. Luckily, Ishant was carrying Aadhaar card as he had planned to buy some groceries after the show.

The Police immediately took action and filed a case against Ishant. Social media had a mixed reaction on the issue. A few questioned Ishant’s patriotism while others talked about the growing intolerance in the country. Reportedly, the movie had a grand opening and Sachin personally met some famous celebrities like Dino Morea and Karishma Tanna, who had come to watch the premiere of the movie. According to Faking News sources, the movie is doing well and had around 90 percent occupancy on the release day. Sachin has not yet reacted to the incident, but the 90 percent occupancy is certainly making him nervous. Whether the movie will cross the 100-cr mark, or it will remain not out at 200 cr, is a question that even Bollywood analysts have failed to figure out. Stay tuned for more updates.
