The first episode of Big Boss 12 may have just been aired but it is already creating a flutter among engineering students across the country. Apparently, the episode which saw Anup Jalota and rumored girlfriend Jasleen Matharu making it to the house, has inspired many single engineers to take up singing bhajan and kirtans.
“If he(Anup Jalota) can get female attention at this age then surely I can do better. I have tried everything to get a girl to date me. From learning the guitar to getting six packs, there is not frontier left. But seems like bhajan-kirtan might just do the trick for me,” said a third year engineering student who didn’t wish to be named.
The aforementioned students view is echoed by majority of the single and frustrated engineering community across the country. “Boys especially are ready to go that extra mile. It wont do you any harm to be a bit more religious,” said another student.
Youtube also reported increase in Views and Likes of Anup Jalota’s bhajans on the site. “He is trending on Youtube since the last 24 hours. Some of his popular videos have seen 300% jump in viewership. If the trend continues, he might even beat Justin Bieber,” said a spokesperson for the video sharing site.
With ‘singing devotional songs’ gathering so much attention among engineering students, a few institutes are now planning to include them as part of the curriculum.
Lovely College of Engineering, which usually had a Rock Band performing at their cultural festival, is now planning to have a Bhajan-Kirtan festival instead this year. College authorities too are not complaining. “Rock Music has a destructive influence on the younger generation. Devotional songs are any day better,” said the Principal of the college, while himself crooning to aisi laagi lagan..meera ho gayi magan.
