HBO throws a lavish party after no episode leaks this week; employees given a bonus

24, Aug 2017 By Akash Vadera

HBO’s popular series Game of Thrones is running in its seventh season now and it goes without saying that it has garnered a lot of craze and fan following since the last 4 years.

Each episode is telecast on Sunday in other countries and on Monday morning in India, owing to the time difference. However, HBO is facing issues with its online security ever since the 4th episode of seventh season was leaked online. And if this was not enough, HBO Spain ‘accidentally’ telecast 6th episode instead of 5th, which led to 6th episode being leaked as well.

However, it’s been 5 days since the 6th episode was leaked and yet there is no news of the 7th episode being out illegally. This has proved to be a silver lining for HBO and it is trying to find little joys wherever it can.

The fact that HBO threw a lavish party for all its employees to celebrate ‘no leaks this week’ aids to that. Richard Plepler, the CEO of HBO, talked to ANI regarding this and he said, “It goes without saying that Game of Thrones is our biggest series yet. When the 4th and 6th episodes got leaked, we fired one fourth of our employees. Our online security system was a joke. In fact, I was getting mocked for our online security. The other day, one of my friends made fun of me asking me if my facebook password was ‘password’. Yesterday, I got a mail from a cyber thief saying that I was way too below his standard to be hacked. I was having a tough time processing this. It was starting to get in my head so much that I was almost about to punch the plumber in my house when he said there was a leak. But now I am starting to feel good again as it has been 5 days since the last leak and the 7th episode hasn’t been leaked yet. This is the reason behind this celebration. In fact, we have decided to give the employees a bonus for proving to the world that our online security system has gotten back on its feet.”

This is when he got a call from one of his team members due to which he left for his office furiously. Judging the look on his face, all we can say is that maybe, this was a premature celebration.
