After getting a nod from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the nearing release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati alias Padmavat alias Padmaavat is giving nightmares to Rajput Karni Sena. Upset with the Rajasthan government’s inability to stop the film’s release, members of the community have announced to ban the government in the state.
The Vasundhara Raje-led BJP government in the state is facing the heat after getting banned by Rajput Karni Sena. The chief minister, who called for a press conference outside the state because of the ban, said, “We tried our best to ensure that Bhansali doesn’t succeed in releasing the film. However, this Prasoon Joshi-led CBFC let us down. We are planning to ban CBFC now.”
Raje further added that she felt cheated after getting banned by Karni Sena. “We have worked together to kill art from the very first day. They issued death threats, vandalised public property, and we encouraged them by taking no action. Now that we are helpless, they banned us!” she exclaimed.
Under the ban, the state will be run by Rajput Karni Sena. The community chief, explaining the development, said, “There is no real change in the state leadership. Under the BJP rule, Rajasthan was governed by us. What is all this noise now after we have officially taken over?”
On the other hand, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is facing a new problem before the release of the film. After having crossed every hurdle, the filmmaker is finding it difficult to remember the ever-changing name of the film.
The changes in the name are reportedly made to confuse members of the Karni Sena, who are planning to burn theatres screening the film. “They will come to disrupt the screening of Padmavati, but by the time they reach the theatre, the film’s name will be changed to something else, rendering them confused on which screen to burn,” said a confident Bhansali.
