Mumbai: Yash Raj Films’ action adventure Thugs of Hindostan crashed out on the first weekday post the festive Diwali weekend, making Rs 5 crore on Monday, a 70% drop from Sunday and an 82% drop as compared to Friday. “Thugs of Hindostan is an epic disappointment,” tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
Moviegoers are extremely ruthless and in no mood to splurge on movies they hear are substandard. In this era of social media, word-of-mouth spreads faster than fire and can make or break a movie within hours. And the fate of Thugs Of Hindostan was pretty clear on the first Saturday itself.
This is when Shwetank Srivastava, a HR manager of a renowned firm thought of a plan to get work extracted from employees even on a Sunday. The company had some huge projects to clear out and meet deadlines and an extremely shrewd plan was required to get work from the employees on a Sunday.
Shwetank emailed all employees that Sunday will be a team outing day for all the people at home and the whole team will go to watch Thugs Of Hindostan. To every one’s surprise, Sunday was a full house, not at the movie theater, but at the Office as every seat was filled and employees worked throughout the day without complaining.
