Days after it was reported that Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son Tej Pratap is addicted to drugs, Netflix announced that it is planning for the Indian version of Narcos. Sources say that Tej Pratap has already been briefed about the show and has also shown interest in being part of the series.
Previously the show chronicled the rise of Pablo Escobar and the subsequent seasons unraveled drug related crimes in Mexico. Sources say that the Indian version would see a deviation from the earlier story line.
Surprisingly Tej Pratap wasn’t the first choice for the role. Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui was supposed to play the protagonist earlier. But the makers couldn’t match Nawaz’s pay expectation, which led to the fallout. “I make more money just being on memes,” he is believed to have said to the makers of Narcos.
As per Netflix officials, the idea was in the offing for quite some time, but back then we just had Radhika Apte on board.
Besides Narcos India, Netflix is also betting big on Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ wedding video which will be converted into a web-series for Netflix.
