There was a momentary scare at the headquarters of Maharashtra Navniraman Sena when party chief Raj Thackeray fainted after watching the hindi version of popular Marathi song Zingaat.
He did regain consciousness later after party workers sprinkled water on his face, but lost no time in expressing his displeasure.
Raj lashed out at filmmaker Karan Johar for ruining the song, which is part of the yet to be released movie Dhadak.
The song was released on social media yesterday and received a lot of flak for failing to do justice to the original version.
A livid Raj Thackeray while speaking to his supporters said, “He kai challai. Hya Karan Johar la fakt Marathi gani miltat kai. Original Zingaat chi vaat lavun thevli aahe. Asa kachra kela aahe ganya cha ki Anushka Sharma la pan laaz vatel.”
(What is going on. This Karan Johar finds only marathi songs to ruin. They have completely messed up and ruined the original to an extent that even Anuskha Sharma will be embarrassed.)
This is not the first time that Karan has invoked the wrath of MNS Chief. Both were involved in a war of words during the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil over the issue of Pakistani actors in Bollywood.
When questioned if the opposition to the movie will be in typical MNS style, Raj Thackeray said, “No this time we will do it differently. A kind of protest that will shock you.”
Reacting to his statement many speculated that instead of vandalizing theaters, MNS Chief might go on an indefinite fast to register his protest. But Raj scoffed the idea and said, “Itna bhi shocking nahi.”
Insiders say that the party is planning to do a tit for tat and ruin all Dharma Production movies by coming up with their Marathi remakes.
Karan Johar has not yet responded to this threat.
