Sports fans actually were left pleasantly surprised after the Padmavati actor was seen acting as a ground reporter for Indian TV channel Ten Sports during the UEFA Champions League final between Juventus and Real Madrid in Cardiff. On Sunday, the 31-year-old also arrived in the commentary desk of the India vs Pakistan ICC Champions Trophy 2017 match in Edgbaston, Birmingham, to share the commentary table with the likes of Virender Sehwag and Sourav Ganguly. In fact Ranveer SIngh’s gesture to promote sports has gone down very well with The sports minister Vijay Goel.

Vijay Goel is known to be the flag bearer of Indian Sports by being present at all the major sporting events where Indian athletes are participating. In fact the number of selfies he has with the Indian sportsmen is far more than the no of medals won by India at the Olympics till now. When Mr. Goel came to know about Ranveer’s latest antics, he was very impressed and decided to personally welcome the Star-cum-celebrity-cum-footballer-cum-Cricketer-comedian at the airport.

Ranveer returned back to Mumbai yesterday after a long schedule of sporting events. Mr. Goel welcomed him and said this to the reporters present there, ” Ranveer is our hero. We need more such people to motivate our people to win medals. What Ranveer did was extraordinary. To witness such big sporting events spread across various countries is not an easy task, and I say that with my personal experience. He deserves a selfie with me. Only the great sporting heroes have had the opportunity of having a selfie with me, he is one of them.”

Government is even thinking of including Ranveer’s name in the Arjuna awards probables list. Ranveer is happy with the run of events and the only person who is not happy is Sanjay Leela Bhansali who is losing out on shooting days for Padmavati.
