Ranveer Singh has always created a buzz in the media with this quirky dressing sense. But this time around it seems that he carried it a bit too far. The bollywood actor was unable to cast his vote today after he reached the polling booth dressed as an EVM machine and was turned back by poll officers.
Sources say that the actor reached the BMC school in Khar early in the morning with the entire length of his body covered by an EVM cut-out. The star posed for cameras and just when he was about to enter, poll officers politely asked him to come back dressed in something more civil. Though Ranveer did not throw any tantrum, he was clearly not happy.
Speaking to Faking News one officer who was witness to the on-goings said, “It is not because the entire get up restricted his movement. Ranveer was stopped at the entrance of the booth itself and asked to come dressed in a more presentable attire. Ye fancy dress competition hai kya. Kuch bhi pehenke aa jate hai.”
Social media was divided on the issue. Some questioned the star’s dressing sense once again while others lauded him to raising awareness on voting day. Ranveer also saw support from bollywood fraternity. Karan Johar tweeted that there was nothing wrong in the dress and poll officers should have leveraged Ranveer’s star power to urge people to vote.
Our reporter tried speaking to Deepika Padukone to get her reaction but she maintained a stoic silence.
Ranveer Singh is not the only bollywood star who had faux-pas on voting day. Ajay Devgan too managed to momentarily hog the limelight after he accidentally inked both fingers while doing the ‘zubaan kesari‘ two finger gesture.
