I strongly oppose nepotism and that’s the reason I didn’t launch my own daughter and asked Karan to do it: Saif

With the nepotism debate taking new turns everyday, everyone seems to have an opinion on it. The Kangana Ranaut-Karan Johar row began on the latter’s talk-show, Koffee With Karan.

Ranaut had called him “the flag bearer of nepotism” in Bollywood, referring to the filmmaker’s preference for star kids. Johar brought up the debate again while hosting IIFA awards 2017 along with Saif Ali Khan and Varun Dhawan. The trio made a nepotism joke, aimed at the actress on stage. But now Saif has clarified his dislike for Nepotism and how he has decided not to launch his own daughter.

Sara Ali Khan has been into the news recently a lot, with rumors about his launch circulating very fast. People believe that Sara will get all support from daddy in kick starting a career in Bollywood. Though the release date or title of her movie is not out yet, Saif has come out and cleared the air about her launch. Saif spoke to Faking News reporter and said,” Look, Sara has talent, but I being a strong critic of Nepotism decided that it won’t be right for me to launch her. She should also struggle a bit like I did in my initial days when I was getting only 3-4 movies a year due to my parent’s contacts. Sara should learn how to fight the critics, how to overcome depression resulting from a flop movie and much more. That’s the reason I have asked my friend karan Johar to launch her in his movie. Me and Karan both believe that talent should be the supreme judge of whether one should get a foothold in the industry or not. ”

Karan Johar has also supported Saif’s claim by saying that ,” If I believed in Nepotism, I would have launched kids from only one or two families, but I launch kids from many families, namely, khans, kapoors, malhotras, Sharmas, Dhawans and many more. So you see, even I am in strong opposition of Nepotism.”
