Mumbai: Ever since he became the chairman of Censor Board, Pahlaj Nihalani has been on a crusade to make Indian films more sanskari. His latest battle for sanskar is against the use of the word ‘intercourse’ in the upcoming film ‘When Harry met Sejal’. The word was used in one of the mini-trailers of the film and Pahlaj Nihalani has made it clear that he is not passing any film with such dirty words. However, Mr. Nihalani has generously offered an alternative to the film’s producers and everyone else in the film industry, he has promised that he won’t propose any cuts if people use ‘अन्योन्य संसर्ग’ instead of the word ‘intercourse’.
Speaking to Faking News reporter inside an elevator, Mr. Nihalani said ,”See, in an ideal world, no film should mention words like sex and intercourse, in fact nobody should have sex, whether in a film or real life, but I understand that we aren’t living in an ideal world. These vulgar people may want to use such words in their films but the least they can do is use an Indian language for these words instead of using colonial English.”
“अन्योन्य संसर्ग is a perfect replacement for intercourse. You get to say what you want to say and at the same time, most of the people, especially kids, will not understand it. You are making a Hindi film so use of Hindi words is logical as well. it will reduce clashes with the censor board as well and save a lot of time for both, the producers and the censor board”, Mr. Nihalani added.
When asked about sex scenes in the films, Mr. Nihalani said ,”Oh that is a strict NO! Not sanskari at all and it can have a bad impact on the viewers. We have already instructed film makers to avoid sex scenes, even the scenes showing two flowers coming together will be cut because everyone knows what that scene means.”
