Mumbai: After facing outrage from thousands of users on the internet over the name of his child, ‘Taimur,’ Saif Ali Khan has declared that next time he will take inputs from social media before naming his child.

“Agli baar tum log hi naam rakh dena bhai”

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan became proud parents to a baby boy on Tuesday morning. The revelation of the name for their son, Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi, was followed by shock and anger from social media.

Taimur was a Turco-Mongol conqueror whose conquests led to the slaughter of millions of people during the 14th century and the choice of this name upset many online.

Saif explained to Faking News why he chose the name Taimur. He said, “I wanted to name my son WOW but Kareena flat out refused it. Then I thought since I am such a big history buff, I should choose a historical name. At the same time, I wanted the name to be unique as well, you know. There are thousands of Akbars and Salims in India but very few Taimurs so I zeroed in on this name.”

“But I didn’t think it through. I didn’t know that Taimur was an invader. Now Kareena and mom are happy but my fans are not. As it is my films are not doing too well these days so I don’t want to offend my fans. Next time I will definitely ask people on social media before taking such a huge step.”

Meanwhile Amitabh Bachchan has suggested Saif to take an Audience Poll before naming a baby. “Hey Saif, you can select 4 baby names that you like the most and put up a poll from my twitter account. I can always tell you the results after a commercial break”, he tweeted.

Inspired by Saif Ali Khan, Ranveer Singh has decided the right time to marry Deepika Padukone only after consulting his Twitter followers.
