Mumbai: With the controversy over Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul’s remarks yet to die down, two more cricketers may be heading to the couch soon on the Koffee with Karan show.
Veteran wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha has requested Karan Johar to invite young sensation Rishabh Pant and seasoned player Dinesh Karthik on his show. Saha has even offered to speak to these players to make it happen if Karan agrees to host them.
Wriddhiman Saha, nursing a shoulder injury for the past few months, has seen Pant successfully replace him as the wicketkeeper in the Indian Test team during that time.
However, Saha denied that he is trying to make this episode of KWK happen to get Pant dropped from the team. He said, “Pant is a young man and very popular with the fans after his batting and sledging in Australia. I feel fans should get to know him more closely and a Koffee with Karan episode will be a good platform for him. Since they need 2 people for that couch, I think Dinesh Karthik can accompany him as he also must be having a lot of stories from the 15-16 years he has spent in the Indian team.”
When asked if BCCI will allow any more players to appear on the show after the criticism that the cricketers faced the last time, Saha said, “BCCI is run by Supreme Court now so it runs at the same pace. By the time they announce a formal ban on such TV shows, the episode would have been shot and aired and my job would be done. Hopefully their appearance will generate same amount of interest that Pandya and Rahul generated.”
When asked if he considered recommending Parthiv Patel’s name for the show, Saha said, “His appearance would have been useless. Even if he says he goes to nightclubs every time there is a match, nobody would believe that a 16 yrs old is allowed inside bars and clubs.”
