Stung by criticism that IPL was responsible for India's poor performance in England, the BCCI has finally acted. In a swift and decisive move , that will put many army Generals to Shame, the BCCI has dissolved ICC, scrapped the Futures Tour program and banned all international cricket from January 1 2012.
BCCI President elect Mr. N Srinivasan confirmed this over telephone from Chennai. "As we will no longer be No. 1 test side soon, we have lost all the lust , that we had developed for test cricket of late. Since we are current world Champions in One day cricket, we want to keep that status permanent by banning all future world cups. That will make us immortal world Champions and Dhoni's six of the last ball will be as famous as Bradman's last innings duck" he said.
To fill the Calendar, The BCCI plans to conduct IPL tournament round the year. " There will be more teams and more matches. Each city/town/village in India will host the matches. We wanted a window for IPL in the futures tour program. Since they(ICC) didnot provide one, we decided to barge through the door and throw them out " he told the media.
Later he also faxed a revised program for IPL with many innovations as listed below
1. IPL to be played round the year
2. There will not be any restriction on number of foreign players and there will not be any minimum and maximum salaries.
3. There will be matches everyday evening in each city/town/village in India . Thus IPL will become Indian family's cultural experiance just like movies/pani puri/pav bhaji or idli sambar. They can have it in their own cities whenever they feel like it.
4. To avoid boredom, bollywood involvment will be increased. Bollywood directors and scriptwriters would be hired to write scripts of matches so that they donot follow monotonous patterns.
5. Plans are being made to involve the audience more . There will be audience SMS polls to decide team composition ,results of matches, scores of teams and star players, number of sixes etc. Sixes and fours would be provided on demand
6. Gavaskar/Shastri commentary excerpts would be available as caller tunes or ringtone downloads. For this DOCOMO will be the partner to keep things simple and silly
BCCI has also confirmed that the effect of cricket bookies will reduce as they become unemployed due to BCCI handling their business officially.
There are also unconfirmed rumours that Lalit Modi will be brought back to manage the show.
Reacting to this news RCB owner Mr. Vijay Mallya was overjoyed. "Since there are no restriction on salary, I hope to hire all good players without paying them a single cent as they will join my team for the free beer available" he said with a wide grin
