The Group of Ministers constituted by PM to look into the alleged allegation of irregularities in the preparation for Common wealth game, have submitted their report today. They have recommended that Suresh Kalmadi,President of IOA, be sacked and Lalit Modi be replaced as CEO,Commonwealth Organising committee.

Though there was a bit of hesitation to appoint Mr Modi as CEO, but seeing the preparation of CWG , GoM thought that the only person who can conduct games on schedule is Mr Modi. According to sources,Lalit Modi has impeccable experience in organising such large scale event on short notice. (IPL-2 at South Africa).Moreover, seeing the popularity of IPL, government hopes that he will be able to attract audiences to events other than gymnastics and swimming.[1]

None of the government officials were willing to comment on the content of the report. However if sources close of Mr Lalit Modi are to believe, he is planning to shift the entire commonwealth games to South Africa. According to the sources, It is almost next to impossible to build a world class infrastructure in less than two months, but South Africa already have those infrastructure which can be utilised to conduct the CWG.In order to respect the sponsorship agreements, Mr Modi wishes to conduct all the events according to IST prime time like 8pm,4pm etc, much like IPL-2.

Mr Kalmadi was not available for comment on this but one of the officer close to him commented ,"jisko jitna khana tha kha liya…ab games kahin bhi ho…apna kya" on the amount of money spent to conduct games in delhi.[2]
