With the Lokpal bill out of the way and Anna eating four-square meals a day, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his ministers were happy to have a few extra hours of sleep. However, they were in for a rude awakening when Telecom and IT Minister Kapil Sibal, called for an urgent meeting with the Prime Minister’s office (PMO), Coal Minister and the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) early this morning. The meeting was called to discuss tigers’ and bears’ social media attack on the Indian government’s policies on forests and coal mining.

In a press conference right after the meeting, the PMO issued an official statement requesting Indian citizens not to watch the Junglistan version of Kolaveri Di on YouTube. The statement was particularly clear about asking people not to share this video on the social networks.

The PMO stated, “It’s in the best interest of the country and its development plan to mine coal in the forests. The animals are not the ones running the country, it’s us human.” The India Against Corruption campaign has expressed strong disagreement with the second part of this statement.

A representative from the Telecom and IT Ministry, who did not wished to named, said, “This is exactly why we need to fast forward our attempt to bring censorship to social networks.”

According to the butler serving breakfast at 7, Race Course road this morning, Prime Minister’s sleep deprivation and frustration was evident as he kept mumbling, “Save the tigers, save the forests, don’t mine for coal, – I’m sick and tired of these tigers asking for stuff. Either it is tigers, Anna or BJP! What am I supposed to do now?”

Ever since Sheroo, the tiger, has come out to cities along with Greenpeace to try to save the forests, there have been more and more people connecting with the issue. India’s President, Ms. Patil, along with a few other politicians, has also met Sheroo. They have even accepted a passport from the Republic of Junglistan as a gift and have promised to support the fight to protect forests from coal mining.

Delhi’s Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Minister of Environment and Forests Jayanthi Natrajan, and Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal have also met and accepted the citizenship of the Republic of Junglistan. The citizenship is available to those who commit to save the forests.

Earlier, the Immigration department and the Intelligence Bureau confirmed that Sheroo and Bhaloo had left the country and were back in Junglistan. However, the PM’s biggest nightmare came true when the Republic Junglistan released its first music video asking the Indian government, “Why this Koyla mining, Koyla mining, Koyla mining di?”

Upset and irritated with the video, the UPA has issued a whip to all the MPs to do whatever it takes to ban the use of word ‘Tiger’ in their constituencies. This move will have an immediate impact on Bollywood as Salman Khan’s movie Ek Tha Tiger might lose its license to use that name.

When contacted, the production house said that they will adhere to the new rules that come up before the release of their film, which is under production at present. They are now checking for clearance to use Ek Tha Kutta, Ek Tha Bandar or Ek Tha Gadha with the censor board and various organisations like Greenpeace, WWF and PETA to make sure no other campaign is on its way.
