Two recent events have contributed to a far reaching decision of the BCCI. The first is the thrashing in the Melbourne Test and the second recent debates in Lok and Rajya Sabha about reservations/quotas in Lok Pal. It is announced that Indian cricket team will have a new look reservation-led team by the next Test at Sydney. it was clarified that slots will be kept open for people of various castes/tribes/religions etc.
BCCI spokesman said " We are an inclusive team, reservation is not a new thing for us, we have always had reserves." In answer to a question whether this new policy can be implemented before the next test which starts in three days, he said " We are used to day/night work. It is no problem for us." It was clarified that woman will also have a quota. The spokesman said " Why do you think Indian women cannot play? Haven't you seen 'Chak De, India'? Don't you know they beat Australia?"
