Home Minister Amit Shah today reacted to India’s semi-final loss to New Zealand in a must win match. While expressing his disappointment, the Minister said that he felt somewhat guilty for te team not making it through. “Bura laga ki haramari team semi-final me haar gayi. I was so busy with the MLA issue that I was couldn’t keep up with the teams performance,” he said.
When questioned about how he would have ‘ensured’ India’s victory, Amit Shah said, “I know what you are hinting at. Lekin kuch nahi nikal ne wala. Our party has the experience of winning two elections. I could have shared my winning strategies with the players even though I dont play cricket. Maybe it could have turned the match in our favor.”
The Home Minister’s comments did not go down well with the opposition parties. A Congress MP commented that Amit Shah would have probably got all the New Zealand players to play for India or better still summon a downpour to get the match cancelled.
The MP later retracted his statement fearing that he may be asked for an explanation in case he switches over to BJP in future.
Rahul Gandhi too tweeted his message for the Indian team and said that he was extremely proud of the players while empathizing with them for the loss. “I can understand the emotions our players are going through right now. I have also lost two elections and believe me it feels horrible. But you guys are still better off. At least the players won’t leave and join some other team,” he said with reference to the ongoing crisis in Karnataka.
