A sequel to MS Dhoni: The Untold Story could hit the theaters sometime early next year as per Bollywood insiders. The ex-captain of the Indian cricket team is already in talks with producers and is in advanced stage of finalizing the script.
Sources say that Sushant Singh Rajput once again would be roped in to play the role. The actor was part of the first part and with critics hailing him for getting into the skin of the character, this time around too he is the front runner. Though the actor is tight lipped about the project, he was seen practicing taking singles on a cricket ground in Bandra.
“He spent around 2 hours running between the wickets. Post World Cup he will be meeting Dhoni to learn the art of taking singles. Sushant is excited about the role as this time around the movie won’t be showing anything that is trademark Dhoni, like helicopter shot and the big hits,” said a source close to the actor.
While speaking to Faking News, Sushant said that being a Dhoni fan, playing the cricketer on-screen yet again was a dream for him. “I watched the match against England and loved the way Maahi took singles. There is something special in everything he does.”
Dhoni, who was criticized for his slow game in yesterday’s match, acknowledged that he did that deliberately so that there could be some new material for his biopic sequel.
The biopic is expected to be three hours long with around an hour of screen time showing Dhoni taking singles as guest appearance. Most Dhoni fans are happy with the news of the sequel and said that they’d be happy just to see him on screen, even if it just the singles.
The movie is tentatively titled MS Dhoni: The Untaken Single and is expected to see a release in January 2020.
