Government asks employees to take online bribes during Coronavirus scare

New Delhi: With Coronavirus scaring people across the world, everyone is trying to reduce to physical contact with others. While schools and colleges have been shut down in several places, some cities have also been put under lock-down to contain the virus.

Now, government offices in India have also started looking at the ways to reduce the chances of their employees coming in contact with the virus by asking government employees to only accept online bribes.

These bribes will be acceptable as white money and income tax will be deducted on the amount. Employees have been asked to adjust their bribe amounts accordingly, depending on the tax slab they fall under.

Speaking to Faking News, a senior Government official said, “A government employee comes into contact with people twice, once while demanding bribe and second time while accepting bribe. Now, we have urged them to discuss bribe amounts on WhatsApp chats, and then just get the money transferred online. This also reduces the chance of the virus spreading through infected currency notes.”

“Yes corruption is a problem but right now Coronavirus is the bigger problem. We are not encouraging corruption here, we are just asking for safe corruption while they are doing it. It is all about adopting safe health practices”, he added to explain the rationale behind the decision.

Meanwhile, several IT Engineers got their first off in years after coughing loudly in the office during the past week.
