Hostel warden during surprise late night raid finds a student watching “Jai Santoshi Maa” on his laptop

Rourkela: Hostel Wardens do surprise raids on engineering college hostels from time to time. It’s another thing, these ‘surprise’ raids never remain surprised just like Rahul Gandhi’s surprise visits to his ‘Nani’s’ house in Italy after announcing in twitter.

Other day during late night surprise raid on hostel 2 of NIT Rourkela, Warden S.K. Patil was in for a shock. He found a student watching ‘Jai Santoshi Maa’ on his laptop.

While talking to us, Mr. Patil said, “When I saw a room where it was not bolted from inside, entered the room out of my anxiety. Looking at the room situation with clean bedsheets, pillow covers, with no cigarette or beer smell, immediately asked for the ID card of the student.”

“The ID card looked genuine with name as Rajendra Biswal, 3rd year engineering student from Metallurgy department, his activities were highly suspicious. He also looked like one he has just taken bath with good amount of study books on the racks. Handed over the ID card to hostel office person to check if the student is genuine or some student has put his room on rent, this person is staying there,” said Mr. Patil.

Mr. Patil added, “I am an engineering student, stayed in these same hostels. I very well know what all happens in hostel rooms. What all we used to watch in groups in common rooms, now students have access to watch as per their privacy, thanks to laptop and affordable broadband rates.”

“If a student wants to ‘spoil’ his 4 years by watching kind of stuff his grandfather should be watching, then what can I do. Advised the ‘boy’, just one more year for you, have some fun. Rest of your life will go in searching Google and doing copy & paste sitting in those cramped AC cubicles,” said Mr. Patil before heading to next room where the student was rolling on the floors in his VIP Frenchie after consuming two bottles.
