After concerns over lighting, ventilation and western style toilets inside Indian jails, Vijay Mallya today said that he wants Jaquar fittings and toilet paper too.
Mallya’s legal counsel stated during the court hearing that the aging liquor baron would not be able to use Indian toilets as it requires squatting and the usual tumbler and water won’t work for him.
The fugitive liquor baron himself said that Indian style is hard on the knees and legs and he refuses to stay at a jail that does not provide western facilities.
Judge Emma Arthbuthnot, who is presiding over the case said that Mallya’s concerns are justified. “I am a fan of Bollywood movies and have seen how women have to defecate in the open as shown in Toilet Ek Prem Katha. So we are bit concerned about the hygiene standards inside Indian jails,” she said.
Judge has now gone ahead and asked for a video of toilets at Arthur Road jail and also inquired if the inmates at the jail use toilet paper.
The court has given a weeks time for the jail authorities to present their case and submit evidence that aforementioned fittings and toilet paper are available at the jail.
