Learn from Ganesh Ji, travel on a mouse: Government responds to rising Petrol prices

14, Sep 2018 By Sandeep Kadian

New Delhi: Government has responded to constant criticism of rising Petrol prices by saying that it is entirely up to the citizens to reduce their petrol consumption. Minister of Petroleum Dharmendra Pradhan has said that people should learn from Ganesh Ji and travel on a mouse, reducing their petrol consumption and hence, their expenditure on fuel.

Speaking on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, Mr. Pradhan said, “There are many things we can learn from Lord Ganesha today and one of them is how to reduce your petrol consumption. If he can travel on a mouse despite being a God then why isn’t it good enough for the common citizens of this country? Pick a rat or a mouse and forget about petrol completely.”

Defending the statement of the Minister, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said, “This is the kind of out of box thinking that is required in today’s world and it shows the kind of sacrifices BJP leaders are willing to make. Despite being the Petroleum Minister, he is showing people a way how to make his job redundant. He is giving people a way to remove petrol and diesel completely from their lives.”

When asked if BJP leaders will give up their cavalcades of cars to reduce the consumption of tax paid petrol, Mr. Patra said, “Oh no, due to the security issues, we can’t get rid of those as there are plenty of stray cats in the country. The cats may attack the mouse ridden by our leaders.”
