In a medical statement released by the hospital treating Hardik Pandya, doctors have revealed the the reason behind the cricketers recurring back problem.
As per the report, awkward position for getting his tattoos done is to be blamed for the all-rounders medical condition that required him to travel to UK for surgery.
The report further said that it was not just the awkward position, the tattoos themselves are also putting considerable weight on his back. “Hardik has a number of tattoos all over his body and their collective weight will lead to health issues for him. For now the surgery has manged to mitigate the problem, but he needs to take a call as the tattoos are going to affect his playing ability,” revealed a doctor who was part of the team.
Sources say that docs have even given the cricketer an ultimatum and asked him to get rid of the tattoos if he wishes to play competitive cricket in future.
BCCI has taken cognizance of the medical report and could well curtail the ‘Tattoo allowance’ that Hardik has been receiving all this while.
Coach Ravi Shastri is expected to brief all players on ‘body art’. Captain Virat Kohli and batsman KL Rahul could be asked undergo test to check if the have any medical problems, given that both have penchant for tattoos.
