Liquor baron Vijay Mallya’s options of evading legal proceedings in India are diminishing by the day. And even he has realized that. It is understood that Mallya has been mulling the idea of returning some part of his loan so that the government can trust him to return the left over part also in future. And in that regard he called up a SBI branch on Tuesday to check the process of doing so, only to get a response that it is lunch time and he should call later.
The incident is related to the Wilson garden branch of SBI in Bengaluru. One of the employee received a call from a person who said he was Vijay Mallay and wanted to return some part of his loan. But the employee who was habituated of turning down customers by giving the ‘lunch time’ reason did the same, only to realize later the mistake he did. The Branch manager spoke to Faking News and said this, ” Yes we are trying to reach Mallya ji again, it is a mistake on our part and we will do everything possible to get our loan back. Right now am bit busy with my lunch, but once am done with it I will take matters into my own hand.”
The news has reached the finance ministry and they are tracing the call location. The CBI is also interrogating the employee about minutest detail which they can come out with. The government meanwhile is praising itself for the efforts and pressure which finally bore fruit and forced Mallya to at least try and return some part of his loan, if not the full sum. The employees of Wilson Garden are waiting eagerly for Mallya to call back and the branch manager has made it a rule that at least one person will be there near the phone, all the time.
