Mumbai: 37 yrs old Ankit Srivastava was asking pointless questions for 30 minutes during an office seminar to impress his boss with his keen mind. Ankit didn’t get the promotion he desired this year and he is doing everything possible to ensure his promotion during next year’s appraisal.
Ankit’s office had a seminar on best office practices where the HR manager gave a short talk to all employees. He was about to leave the seminar room when he made the mistake of asking if anyone has any questions. Ankit pounced on this opportunity to impress his boss and started asking questions related to every line spoken by the HR manager.
“It is not every day that you get an opportunity to impress the entire top management and today I had that. I asked as many questions as I could think of. I wanted to show that I have a very sharp mind, I pay attention to details, I am inquisitive, things that these guys like you know. At one point, I ran out of questions to ask so I even asked the HR manager what he thinks of Suicide Squad’s reviews. Important thing is, I kept on asking”, Ankit said.
“Couple of times, I felt that the HR manager is getting a bit irritated but I didn’t let that stop me. I know some of my colleagues were abusing me under their breath but they are just jealous of me and my sharp mind. One idiot even got up and wrote ‘Bas kar be Ankit’ on the white board; I think he sees me as his biggest threat around here. Anyway, I know I impressed my boss because he was constantly looking at me throughout my questioning session”, Ankit added.
When we asked Ankit’s boss what does he make of the guy asking all the questions in the seminar, he replied, “I felt I have seen that idiot somewhere before too. I kept trying to figure out where have I seen him before but couldn’t remember. He must have delayed us in some other seminar as well through his dumbass questions.”
