A businessman from Uttar Pradesh has filed a case against Hollywood actor Vin Diesel for impersonating CM Yogi Adityanath with an intention to malign his intention.
The case was filed in a local police station and comes shortly after a journalist was arrested for posting defamatory content against Adityanath on social media.
The businessman in his complaint said that Vin Diesel through his movies tarnished Yogi’s image thereby hurting sentiments of the CM’s followers.
While speaking to Faking News the complainant said, “The other day I was watching TV and this movie playing on a channel showed a guy who looked a carbon copy of Yogiji, driving at very high speed in what looked like a car chase. I didn’t have any problem with that as the actor Vin Diesel seemed to be chasing the bad guys. Similar to how Yogiji chased gangsters out of UP.”
“But then after some time that Diesel-Petrol was getting cosy with scantily clad women. That ticked me off. Clearly this was intended to malign Yogi Adityanath. We want that actor to apologize or face a jail term in India. Agar sarkar kuch nahi karegi toh hum andolan karenge,” he warned under condition of anonymity.
Suppoerters also wanted PM Modi to intervene and ensure that Indian leaders are not mocked by Hollywood actors. “Pradhan Mantri toh humesha videsh jaate rehte hai. Humara unse anurodh hai ki woh Vin Diesel se maafi mangvayein,” said a UP minister.
A spokesperson for Vin Diesel in a statement replied that the actors intention was in no way intended to hurt the reputation of Yogi Adityanath.
“The facial resemblance though uncanny is an act of God. Vin respects the sentiments of Indian people and is open to growing a beard or sporting a mustache so that it doesn’t appear as if he is impersonating Mr. Adityanth,” stated the spokesperson.
