Mumbai: A mannequin placed in a showcase in a shop in Mumbai got itself ‘Katrina Kaif Award’ for being in the same spot for 3 years with an expressionless face.
The Bollywood actress, who was in news recently for being awarded the Smita Patil Memorial award for her contribution to cinema, added another feather to her cap with an award itself being named after her.
Salbir Kapoor, who is part of the jury for the award, spoke to our reporter and said, “Our effort is to honor mannequins who serve by attracting customers to the shop. We thought an award in the name of Katrina Kaif would be the best honor for any mannequin.”
“Around 250 mannequins from across the country were in the list and their expressions were being observed with a cctv camera for 3 years. So you see, we have taken a lot of effort to award only the best,” he added.
Royal Readymade Clothes store in Bandra, where the mannequin has been placed for the last 3 years, was buzzing with people and mediapersons, eager to catch a glimpse.
Faking News reporter spoke to the store owner Mr. Jhunjalani, who said, “I am proud and happy with the news. My mannequin said that she will think about getting married only after getting ‘Katrina Kaif award’ for her contribution. Now, I can peacefully look for a match for her.”
Organizers are planning a mega awards event next month which will be graced by Bollywood biggies. Social media too went abuzz with the news, with co-stars of the actress congratulating the actress.
“I have worked with Katrina in three movies and was always in awe of her expressionless face,” said Balwan Khan.
Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif was not available for comment and it was not yet clear if she would attend the awards function to honor the mannequin.
