Reacting to violence in JNU where students were beaten up by masked goons, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray said that the incident reminded him of the 26/11 attacks. While speaking to reporter the said that while his party-men may beat trolls and shave their heads, he would never endorse the kind of violence the nation witnessed in JNU.
“I was shocked to see the goons on rampage at JNU. How can we let that happen in a country that believes in Gandhiji’s ideals. This was like reliving 26/11 attacks. I mean you can beat trolls and shave their heads but unleashing violence in this manner is totally unlawful. I request the cops to take strict action against the culprits,” he said while speaking to the media.
Uddhav Thackeray also came down hard on the cops for not doing their duty. “If the cops fail to do anything, I will ask sainiks to retaliate in sena style. My men will take care of round the clock security of the institute. Any outsider entering the campus will be taken to task and his head will be shaved. I assure JNU students that there won’t be repeat of this ‘terrorist attack’ like incident in the institute,” he added.
The Maha CMs views were echoed by Mamata Bannerjee and even went ahead to call the incident a repeat of 9/11 terrorist attack on America.
