Ministry of Broadcasting has issued a stern warning to makers of Kasautii Zindiagii Kay to correct the spelling mistake in the title of the serial or face blackout.
In a letter sent to the TV channel, the makers were asked to delete the extra ‘i’ in the name and also change Kay to Ki. Sources say many viewers expressed concern over lack of spell check while naming serials.
The apex broadcasting body was concerned with blatant usage of misspelt words to come up with show titles. The body has asked for a reply within a week or the show could be pulled off air.
“Not just that it is difficult for pronunciation too. When the correct title should have been Kasauti Zindagi Ki, why did they mess it up. And what does Kay mean anyway?” questioned an official.
The channel on it’s part is doing everything to resist the name change. Sources say that makers of the show have sent a 10 page reply to the ministry. A channel producer spoke to Faking News and said, “One of the writers who came up the name of the show is a gutkha chewing Kanpuriya and he had a mouthful of gutkha when he said Kasauti Zindagi Ki, which may be the reason why Ki sounded like Kay. And it just stuck.”
When questioned about the extra alphabets, the said, “It’s just how Ekta Kapoor likes it. I don’t think we can do much about it.”
But insiders say that it is highly unlikely that the ministry will relent and in a recommendation to the TV channel, has asked for a name change of the show. Yogi Adityanath has already extended his services to the channel to help them with name suggestions just in case.
