New Delhi: The slowdown in automobile sector has become a big headache for the government and Finance Ministry is trying hard to pinpoint the main reason behind this slowdown.

Yesterday, the Finance Minister said that the slowdown is due to the millennials who prefer Ola and Uber instead of owning a car which caused a huge backlash from the outrage community. Now, the honourable Minister has said that it is not the millennials, but Rohit Shetty who is causing this slowdown.

Speaking to the press at a function to celebrate a new car purchase in Delhi, Ms Sitharaman said that the slowdown in auto industry is due to the fact that Rohit Shetty has not made any film in 2019. For past several years, Rohit Shetty has been one of the biggest customers of 4-wheelers and his decision to take a break in 2019 severely affected the industry.

Rohit Shetty has released a film every year since 2008 but didn’t schedule any film in 2019, he has another release lined up in 2020 so it is expected that the industry will return to a healthy state next year. In his every film, Mr Shetty blows up around 100,000 vehicles including SUVs and Trucks which provides a great boost to the manufacturing sector.

As per sources, Finance Ministry is planning to provide a stimulus package to Rohit Shetty in coming months so that he can release not 1, but 2-3 films next year to take the GDP growth to double digits in 2020.

Meanwhile, government is also planning to give a car to every government employee working in BSNL, MTNL and Air India to boost the sales figures for 4-wheelers in the country.
