New Delhi: Opposition MPs cutting across party lines have asked Government to extend the budget session of parliament which is supposed to be over on April 6th.
‘Shouting in the well of the house, voluntary walkouts as demanded by Party high command as well as adjournments forcing us to walkout keeps us all active throughout the day,” said a MP while coming out of the house on a day Rajya Sabha witnessed an unprecedented 11 adjournments.
“Our life is very hectic. Full day we spend inside parliament canteen or somewhere nearby places. Evening time we spend at news channel studios which runs live debate almost till mid-night. Where is the time for us to do exercise?” asked the MP.
He added, “My doctor told me, in these stressful work environment, agar kaam ke sath exercise side by side kar sakte ho toh bahut achha hoga. That’s reason, though my party has not taken any stand on Cauvery issue, bank scam or special status to AP, I make it a point to join my fellow colleagues from other parties to raise slogan on behalf of them. See the result. My BP as well sugar level is in control.”
“Sugar problem or BP problem is there for many of the MPs including those sitting on the treasury benches. That’s the reason many NDA MPs also signed our petition which we submitted to Lok Sabha speaker as well as Rajya Sabha Chairman today,” said the opposition MP.
Reacting to this news, recently retired Rajya Sabha MP Sachin Tendulkar said, “During my time, if they would have done some extended sessions in April when my kids have exams due to which I cannot go on family vacation, I could have certainly improved on my overall attendance record.”
