New Delhi. Outgoing President Pratibha Patil is hopeful that jokes on her would stop after she is no longer the President of India. Patil has reportedly joined Twitter – a microblogging website used to create jokes on various people, ideas, and entities – and has been searching for jokes on her.

Pratibha Patil to leave Delhi soon for Pune. Via Bali, Tahiti, Honolulu, Vancouver, Miami, St. Barts, Corfu & Dubai.” was the first result – tweeted by @maheshmurthy – when the outgoing President searched for her name on Twitter.

“Maaf kar do, no more jokes please,” Madam Patil said as she logged off Twitter.

She instantly realized that it was a joke as she knew her itinerary by heart; in fact, every member of her family knew the route Mrs. Patil would take on any trip as most of them often accompanied her on foreign trips.

She felt poignant and nostalgic about her past trips as she went through other tweets.

Most Presidents make history. Pratibha Patil made geography.” was another of the top tweets when Madam Patil joined twitter late in the evening today. She initially thought it was a compliment before realizing that it was a joke cracked by Twitter user @rameshsrivats.

“I should have signed up after Pranab Da takes over,” she said to herself as a new joke, tweeted from the fake Prime Minister’s Office @pm0india popped up – “Pratibha Patil will be missed, by Air India pilots.

With this hat-trick of jokes, Patil is reported to have logged off Twitter in anger. She almost felt like calling up Kapil Sibal but was distracted by the whistle of the pressure cooker in the kitchen.

Experts believe that the jokes on Pratibha Patil will continue for a couple of days until Pranab Mukherjee takes oath. Patil is expected to be a non-entity once retired and hence no jokes are expected on her after that.

“Unless that strange post-retirement virus infects her,” an expert warned, “The one that has infected Navjot Singh Sidhu – jokes will multiply after retirement in that case.”
