New Delhi: Following her routine after every election, Priyanka Gandhi has packed her handloom sarees and placed them back in the trunk as they will not be needed till 2019 at least when Amethi-Raebareli will again go for the election.

“Just a normal wash was good enough before packing them, we did not have to send them for dry clean this time as they were hardly used,” said one of the AICC office bearers who oversees laundry section.

The AICC officer bearer who wanted to remain anonymous went on to add, “There were talks like it has happened umpteenth times in the past, she will play a ‘big’ role in this election. We were so excited after initial news came out in the media when everyone was crediting her for closing the SP-Congress alliance overnight. I felt, this is the election after so many elections India will see the full potential of Priyanka ji, our de facto x-factor.”

“We did not leave any stone unturned in our preparation. We had prepared a good set of sarees well in advance. Considering the long election season in UP which started in January and ended now, we kept in mind the climatic conditions which changed from late winter to early summer. The colors were as per her preference. The important thing we kept in our mind is to choose kind of sarees which makes her strikingly close resemblance to her grandmother Indira Gandhi,” said the AICC person.

“I do not know what happened suddenly, one day Ghulam Nabi Azad declared Priyanka Gandhi will not be campaigning anymore,” said the AICC office bearer with a huge sign of disappointment. When we asked is this something Congress Party and Priyanka Gandhi knew in advance that Congress will win only 7 seats out of 105 it contested, even lower than a small party like Apna Dal which won 9 out of 11 it contested? “May be, I do not know. I am happy, Priyanka Ji still remains our secret weapon for our future elections,” said AICC person.

In the meantime, Rahul Gandhi is checking when the next set of big elections are due so that he can plan his holiday trips well in advance.
