New Delhi: Resigning is the best way to get an increment in India, and Congress President Rahul Gandhi has used this old Indian wisdom successfully to get a decent 15% raise. In the aftermath of the defeat in Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi had submitted his resignation from the post of Congress President which was not accepted by the Party. However, he refused to withdraw his resignation, forcing the party to give him a 15% raise on his basic salary.
As per reports, there may be some additional allowances in his new package as well to increase his take home salary. However, they were not disclosed to the public due to the close eye of Tax officials on the Congress President.
Speaking to Faking News, a senior member of Congress Working Committee said, “We were not in a position to accept his resignation at all, there was no replacement available to take the handover. We requested Sonia Ji, Priyanka Ji, Robert Ji, and even Raihaan Ji to take up the responsibility but none of them was prepared. Since there was no other candidate left in the market, we had to do what we did to keep hold of Rahul Ji.”
Further, he added, “We are not like the BJP where just about any random dude can become the President. We have a strict selection criterion and only those who fulfill all the parameters are considered able enough to lead the party. Once we have such a candidate in place, we can’t let go so easily. So we consider this small 15% raise a good investment for the future of our party.”
Meanwhile, as per a survey conducted by us, 55% of the people asking Rahul Gandhi to continue as Congress President were BJP members.
