Ravi Shastri should interview me after cricket matches instead of interviewing barely literate cricketers: Javed Akhtar

Mumbai: A day after calling sports persons ‘barely literate’, and labeling wrestlers as trolls, noted poet and scriptwriter Javed Akhtar has commented again on sports persons. Javed Saab has said that Ravi Shastri should be interviewing him after every match instead of wasting time on the opinion of barely literate cricketers.

“We have already seen those cricketers playing for the past 5 days, do we need to hear any more from them? Their opinions anyway don’t matter because there is hardly any well read individual in there. They are barely literate people who know basic counting so that they can keep track of the number of runs scored. So why not interview an enlightened soul like me after the match so that I can share my wisdom with everyone watching?” Javed Saab asked after explaining his demand.

Furthermore, he added ,”It is not as if the cricketers will share some fresh perspective after the match. They will talk about the match which we have already seen, there is no fresh content there. On the other hand, I can talk about any topic under the sun during those 2-3 minutes. It will ensure a richer experience for everyone and people can learn something.”

When we asked if he will be comfortable getting interviewed by Shastri, himself an ex-cricketer, Javed Saab said ,”Well I don’t trust a sportsperson to come up with intelligent questions so I will give him a list of questions that can be asked during the interview.”

Meanwhile, several sports persons in the country have started applying to various colleges so that they can become educated enough to comment on any issue.
