Mumbai: Over 3 weeks after the declaration of results in the state, Maharashtra remains without a Chief Minister as the political parties fail to come to any understanding. While BJP-Shiv Sena pre-poll alliance has fallen apart, post-poll Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance hasn’t quite come together yet either.
In between all that, rumors of BJP-NCP alliance are also doing the rounds. Now veteran NCP leader has provided some clarity which may help end the deadlock.
Sharad Pawar has said that any party that stops the release of Arjun Kapoor starrer Panipat will get unflinching support of NCP for the next 5 years. Panipat is set for a 6 December release so BJP and Shiv Sena have 20 days to respond to this request from Mr Pawar.
Speaking at a media event earlier today, the Maratha strongman said, ”6th December is already a painful memory for one section of our society, now let’s not make it a painful memory for Marathas as well. Panipat war hurts Marathas as it is, now forcing us to relive that while torturing us simultaneously with Arjun Kapoor’s face is a human rights violation. It is up to BJP and Shiv Sena now, they can promise to save us from Arjun Kapoor and we will support them in government formation.”
“All of us kept fighting over who becomes CM, and in all that Arjun Kapoor became an actor and nobody noticed. Our demand is not just for Maharashtra public but for everyone. A beleaguered population still recovering from the latest Housefull film should not be subjected to an Arjun Kapoor film at this point”, he added.
Meanwhile, residents of Panipat have started a petition to change the name of their city, in order to avoid any link with an Arjun Kapoor film.
