In an effort to put an end to the bickering between Sena and BJP over CM’s chair, Sanjay Raut has proposed a T20 match between teams from both parties. Raut said that the new 20-20 formula was put forth after BJP refused to honor the 50-50 seat sharing formula proposed earlier.
“With both parties hardening their stand and desperate to come to power, this is the only option left. The winner gets to keep the CM post,” Mr. Raut said.
When questioned if BJP would agree to the idea, the Saamna Editor replied, “Lagaan me bhi toh aise hi hua tha. What is there to not agree. The deadlock needs a solution and T20 contest is the answer.”
The idea got the go ahead from Aditya Thackeray too, who felt that with many youngsters in the Sena they clearly had an edge over BJP.
Even before announcing the team, there were concerns that Home Minister Amit Shah has taken all umpires (including third umpire, DRS and Duckworth-Lewis) to resort in an unknown location. However BJP spokesperson shot down all allegations of wrongdoing and said that they too were looking forward to open and fair contest.
Other political parties too welcomed the idea. NCP Chief Sharad Pawar said that he’d give outside support to the Sena XI. “I have been associated with BCCI for so many years. I can share my expertise with the Sena. We will be happy to see a Shiv Sena CM in the state,” the Maratha strongman said.
