After threatening to leave BJP ‘at once’ on several occasions, Shatrughan Sinha has finally taken the first step towards getting himself out of the party. The actor turned politician today quit the official Whatsapp group of the BJP fueling speculations that he might do a similar act with his party membership sometime soon.
The group has many senior party leaders and alliance leaders as its members and Amit Shah as the group admin. Apart from Whatsapp joke forwards on Rahul Gandhi and the usual Good Morning messages, lot of political content is also shared on the group.
“But the amidst the flurry of Good Morning messages, there was a notification that Shatrughan Sinha has left the group. Initially we didn’t know how to react. That is because he’s been threatening the party about this for quite sometime and nothing ever happened,” said a party leader.
Ravishankar Prasad who helped form the group when he took up the responsibility as IT Minister acknowledged that ‘Shatru’ had left the group. However he wasn’t either shocked or surprised with what happened and said, “I see a silver lining in what happened. He anyway didn’t contribute to anything on the group. While everyone laughed at jokes on Rahul Gandhi, he kept mum. The group admin should have removed him long back,” said Mr. Prasad.
After Shatrughan Sinha’s exit, there were also speculations that Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray may follow suit. The party has not given any official statement. But an IT engineer working with Shiv Sena revealed that the Sena Chief has recently installed TikTok app on his smartphone and might make a short video of his exit from BJP.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports say that the Mahagatbandan of parties have formed their own group on Whatsapp and the defecting politicians of BJP might be a part of the group.
