Mumbai: Heavy downpour in Mumbai in last one week has once again thrown the life out of gear for Mumbaikars. But there are smart Mumbaikars like Vinay Tawde who used the flood water current to their advantage, and they are reaching their offices in record time.
“I stay in Goregaon and my office is in Bandra west. I reached office in eight minutes today”, said Vinay Tawde who was waiting for the Vada Pav stall owner in front of his office to open the shop. “Couple of weeks back when monsoon first time battered the city, due to traffic jams the same distance took me eight hours”, he added.
“Auto strike city mein chal raha hai, mere ko koi parva nahin. For this monsoon season I had a made a customized boat for myself especially for office commute. This season I am going to use it like Bangladesh used shakib al hasan in the world cup”, told Vinay while having his first bite of hot hot Shiv Vada Pav.
“The problem for me is office opens at 10 AM. Full three hours to go, do not know what to do. Called a friend to share any Ashutosh Gowariker movie. Bore hone se acha hai ki koi lamba movie dekh loon”, told Vinay.
But there are commuters like Sagar S who are struggling to find their way as all the major potholes he used as landmarks are defaced. “In between potholes whatever little roads were there, they are gone now. I am not a fan of google maps, do not know without familiar potholes how I will find the routes. After rains, BMC should restore the potholes as road repairing is beyond their means”, told Sagar.
