Embattled liquor baron Vijay Mallya, who is currently holed up in UK and desperately avoiding extradition to India was seen desperately looking through his family tree hoping to find a brother.
Apparently, Mallya got the idea after reading about Mukesh Ambani bailed out Anil Ambani to stave off a jail term. The King of Good Times was hopeful that his bad times would come to an end if he too could convince his brother to repay his outstanding debt.
Hectic activity was seen at his London house where the liquor baron was carefully going through his family tree. Sources close to the fugitive say that he spent the most of yesterday armed with a small diary and pen jotting down the names of his relatives.
Siddharth Mallya too too was seen helping his father with names of relatives and arranging the different branches of his family tree. The exercise also caused some mild embarrassment after names of few kingfisher models too ended up in the tree.
Mallya has been tight lipped about the entire exercise and has refused to speak to the media. There were also unconfirmed reports that he may possibly plan a secret India visit later this month to hunt for this brother.
This has sent shivers among his close relatives who are now planning to an undisclosed location to avoid getting in contact with Mallya.
Meanwhile State Bank of India has welcomed the move and said that anything that would bring the money back is appreciated. The bank has extended help to Vijay Mallya and offered their services to extract information from their archives to locate any such individual who could be Mallya’s brother.
Last year women employees of the bank sent a giant Rakhi to Vijay Mallya and asked him to pay his debt as Rakshabandhan gift.
