It is a common practice for millennial generation to eject the USB drive after the work is done and conveniently ignore the ‘Remove USB safely’. Even though not much time is saved by ejecting the USB directly, people still prefer it over choosing the other option.
But not Bengaluru-based techie Dhanush Kumar! Dhanush has chosen the ‘Remove USB safely’ option every time in the last 5 years; and because of this he has been invited on Ted Talk for delivering a lecture on patience.
We interviewed Dhanush and here’s what he said, “See first of all, it only takes 5-10 seconds more to remove USB safely. What will you do in these 10 seconds? Go to moon or build a Taj Mahal? Even if this process saved an hour, people would still do nothing. They would just waste the time. So what’s the use? Ejecting a drive directly is not making ANY difference. At least I am maintaining the performance and integrity of the laptop as well as the USB drive by removing it safely.”
He then explained the technicality behind removing the USB safely and how it affects computer’s performance and then dives into coding and testing and then loses sense of the point and deviates to national cyber security, for the next 45 minutes.
Our reporter stopped him by saying that Dhanush’s laptop anti-virus has found one potential threat that needs to be quarantined. Dhanush panics and stops the tech-gyaan. He then resumed the interview after 10 minutes.
“So you understand now why removing the USB safely is a better option? I have been doing this for the last 5 years and not once I have directly ejected the USB. In fact, one time my friend was lying unconscious in front of me, but still I completed the transfer process and clicked on ‘Remove the USB safely’ and then took him to the hospital. It is because of this that I have been invited on Ted Talk next week for delivering a lecture on patience. Here take this pen drive. It contains all the information you need to know to about the benefits of removing USB safely,” he said.
Dhanush went with the flow and didn’t realize that he had ejected the pen drive directly. Dhanush was shocked and speechless. He offered us money to not tell this to anyone. Dhanush, we’re sorry!
