November 23 was a special day for cricketer Zaheer Khan and actress Sagarika Ghatge as they tied the wedding knot after dating each other for a significant period. The event was graced by popular faces from sports and film industry as they poured in to congratulate and bless the newly-weds. However, it was Indian skipper Virat Kohli and actress Anushka Sharma who stole the limelight in the star-studded affair.
Journalists, who had arrived to cover the wedding festivities, ended up following Anushka and Virat in the entire event, due to which they missed out on covering the main event. “As soon as Virat and Anushka entered, we ran towards them and followed them all night, hoping to get an exclusive news piece. In an attempt to do so, we missed out on covering the on-stage rituals and ceremonies which were a part of the wedding,” shouted a reporter who did not wish to be named.
The shouting reporter was not the only one to follow Anushka and Virat for a scoop. A journalist, who dreams about breaking the story of celebrity weddings, followed the couple religiously but to no avail. “After following them for one hour, I forgot who the bride and the groom was. I also forgot what the event was about. All I wanted was Anushka and Virat to get married or at least announce their marriage date to me, if nothing less,” she said.
The groom, Zaheer Khan, was reportedly upset after the media covered the star couple more than the wedding couple. Hardik Pandya, who was present at the event, was difficult to recognize with a decent hairdo. “Honestly, I will never invite Virat bhai to my wedding. I want the cameras on me, not on him during my wedding,” he said.
