Arvind Kejriwal writes letter to LG; Demands "Over smart city" status for Delhi

10, Jul 2017 By Guest Patrakar

A few days back, PMO India had released the result of smart cities challenge, with the top three cities being Bhopal, Bhubaneswar and Pune. Soon after the declaration of the result Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had tweeted:“The result has been manipulated. Bhopal was given the smart city award only because it has BJP govt. Modi ji! What’s the deal?”

Smart Cities Mission is an urban renewal and retrofitting program with a mission to develop 100 cities all over the country, making them citizen friendly and sustainable. Delhi not being on the top made CM Arvind Kejriwal highly disappointed. Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter to the Lt. Governor demanding “Over smart city” status for Delhi.

CM Arvind Kejriwal went live on Facebook and interacted with people. He said Delhites had voted for him, which clearly shows they are more than smart. I wish Modi ji had Smarter and Smartest city challenges too. Since we don’t have any such challenge I demand “Over smart city” status for Delhi.

Earlier Arvind Kejriwal has demanded statehood status for Delhi. Since it’s a smart city challenge Arvind Kejriwal can’t get both. If sources are to be believed Arvind Kejriwal has agreed to give up statehood status for Delhi if the Centre approves “Over smart city” status for Delhi.

The challenge has certainly created an atmosphere of competition to become the best, but competition brings out the best in products and the worst in people”
