Digvijay Singh opposes use of brains against the Naxalites

18, May 2010 By Pagal Patrakar

Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijay Singh has opposed using brains to counter the violence unleashed by Naxals and Maoists in different parts of the country. Singh believes that brains should be used only as the last resort after all other options have been exhausted by the government. Singh was taking part in a brainstorming session to prepare anti-Naxal strategy under the leadership of leading anti-Naxal strategist Rahul Gandhi.

“We should not act in haste and apply our brains so soon. I never employed any brains to counter Naxalism in Madhya Pradesh when I was in power for 10 years (Chhattisgarh was a part of MP in those times), and there was no problem.” Digvijay Singh said, adding, “We still have got a large number of CRPF men, who could be employed in the area, while we preserve our brains.”

Recently, Digvijay Singh has been opposing a lot of things

In absence of brains, Digvijay Singh favored using lips and limbs for the time being.

“We have to reiterate that we want development in areas like Dantewada, and we should use our lips for this purpose. CRPF men could provide the necessary limbs.” said Diggi Raja, as he is fondly called for his noble thoughts.

Singh also talked about some multi-pronged strategy to counter the Naxals, if lips and limbs fail to win the war.

“Yes, multi-pronged.” he said, explaining his strategy in detail.

Meanwhile in the brainstorming session, Rahul Gandhi accepted a locally woven straw-hat and shot an arrow from the bow of a local young tribal.

“This is exactly what the BJP governments in MP and Chhattisgarh should do. Even the Prime Minister and Home Minister have to follow suit.” Digvijay Singh said, criticizing Home Minister P Chidambaram for not using bow and arrow against the Naxals and Maoists.

“We could consider such options before rushing in.” was the response when asked if he also favored Prime Minister wearing straw-hat to tackle the Naxal menace.
