Claiming their right over PV Sindhu, Telangana declares war on Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad: The competition between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh over Olympic Silver medalist PV Sindhu has gone totally out of hand now as Telangana government formally declared war on Andhra Pradesh.

Sindhu and Gopinath waving goodbye to both states

Ever since Sindhu won the Silver medal, there has been a game of one-upmanship going on between the two states as they claimed that the Olympic Silver medalist belonged to their state. Andhra was first out of the blocks by announcing a cash reward of 3 Crores but Telangana bettered it by announcing 5 Crores. Both states also offered her government jobs even though she already has a job with Bharat Petroleum. Meanwhile, Delhi and MP governments also announced cash reward for her for some reason.

The tussle continued after Sindhu’s arrival from Rio with Telangana organizing a huge celebration for her and her coach P. Gopichand. But, Andhra Pradesh has also organized a reception for the duo in Vijaywada now and they have promised to make it bigger than Telangana’s reception. This has irked Telangana CM K. Chandrashekar Rao a lot and he has finally declared war on Andhra Pradesh.

“Sindhu belongs to Telangana. Our name is world famous now because of her but Andhra Pradesh wants to steal her from us. Why are they interfering when we are honoring her? They must respect our statehood and back away from our state’s assets”, said a minister in Telangana government.

Entire Telangana police force has been directed to move towards the border with Andhra Pradesh. Andhra CM N. Chandrababu Naidu has refused to take a step back as well and has sent his police force to counter this attack. As reports last came in, the situation is tense all over and everyone is waiting with bated breath for the next move.

Meanwhile, P. Gopichand’s comment that Sindhu belongs to India has been dismissed by both state governments saying that nobody is Kabir Khan here and this is not a Bollywood film.
